Welcome to the Slovenian the ECSA page.
The Customs Administration of the Republic of Slovenia is organised within Slovenian Ministry of Finance. It was established in June 1991 and has since developed into a modern Customs service with a clear development orientated vision.
Today, the Customs Administration is responsible for administration and collection of customs duties, excise and environmental duties and VAT on imports. More information about our administration you may find on the following Website: www.carina.gov.si. Slovenia became a member of ECSA on the 29 September 2006.
In Slovenian Customs Administration we are aware that sport is an important part of the social life of our customs officers, who are already looking forward to participate in the various ECSA international sport events and to meet with their colleagues from all over the Europe. We believe that contacts made in sports between customs officers across the border lines effect also our daily work in strongly positive way and help us to build a successful communication with other administrations.
Some of the sports that Slovenian customs officers practise are football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and winter sports such as skiing and cross country as well.
Slovenian Customs national sport event takes place once a year, either in winter or summer. Some of the sports activities take place also on the local level, either among customs officers or they can be occasionally as well organised between participants from Customs and other public or business services.
Since 1998 each winter we participate in the International Customs Ski Competition of the Six Alpine Nations, which is annually organised in one of the alpine countries following the principle of rotation among countries. Slovene Customs Administration organised international competition among alpine countries for the first time in Slovenia in Bled in the year 2002. In the past years Slovene customs officers were participating in international sport events organised trough CEFTA as well.
We truly hope that the participation of Slovene customs officers in the future shall help ECSA to meet its goal, which lays in the strengthening of the links between European Customs Administrations in order to combat illegal traffic and support trade.
