The Polish Customs Service is organized under the Ministry of Finance. The total amount of employees is over 15 000 qualified customs officers and civil servants, working on the external EU land border (1155 km) with Russia, Belorussia and Ukraine, at the international airports, the Baltic Sea harbours as well as inside country. Organizational structure of Polish Customs consists of four Departments at the Ministry of Finance, 16 Customs Chambers and their subordinated 46 Customs Offices and 159 Customs Branches.

The main roles and responsibilities of the Polish Customs include the realization of the customs policy in the part regarding import, export and transit of goods. The Polish Customs supervises observance of customs, excise and VAT law, other regulations and international agreements, prevents illegal procedures at movement of goods within EU and third countries, fights against prohibited circulation of national treasures, intellectual property, harmful waste, chemical substances, nuclear and radioactive materials, narcotic drugs as well as weapon, ammunition and explosives. Moreover it controls collection of fuel charge, legality of employment of foreigners and games legality.

Poland became a member of ECSA in the year 2000. We organize a lot of sports competitions on regional and national level each year, in disciplines: swimming, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, tennis, chess, shooting, football, running, bridge. We also participate in international sports activities organized by ECSA such as marathon and shooting. From the year 2005 we have pleasure to hold the International Table Tennis Tournament in Otwock/Swider. Sportspersons from Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Great Britain were our guests last time and we would like to invite the representatives of all European customs services to participate in it this year.
